In this 2 hour -one time Machine Sewing Basics class, you will learn fundamental skills and techniques essential for using a sewing machine effectively. We encourage you to bring your own machine to get better acquainted with it, as we have limited machines for student use.
*Learn different parts of the sewing machine, their functions and how to operate them safely.
*Learn how to correctly thread the machine and the bobbin , wind the bobbin and insert it properly.
*Explore the basic stitches the machine offers
*Understand how to handle different fabrics, including how to select the appropriate needle, adjust tension and stitch length for various materials
*Practice sewing straight seams , curved seams, and corners with accuracy and consistency.

No previous sewing knowledge is required to take our Machine Sewing Basics Class. No fabric or thread or tools needed to attend this class. This class includes all supplies.
STUDENTS WILL NOT SEW A COMPLETED PROJECT IN THIS CLASS.

You will also practice measuring for alterations and finishing methods, building confidence and control at the sewing machine
You are to bring 2-3 clothing items you would like to alter so the instructor can guide you to decide which is the best way to finish.,

Join our six hour workshop split into two 3 hour sessions to learn to read, interpret, and work with commercial sewing patterns. This course is designed for anyone looking to gain confidence using commercial patterns to create garments from scratch
*Learn how to read and interpret pattern markings, symbols, and instructions
*Understand pattern pieces, grainlines, notches and seam allowances
*Learn how to take accurate measurements and compare them to the pattern envelope.
*Practice preparing fabric and pattern pieces including cutting layout and marking so you are ready to start sewing
PRIOR SEWING MACHINE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. If you do not have machine experience, please consider taking the sewing machine basics class before the pattern class.
Bring your pattern and prewashed fabric to Class 1.

*Begin working with your own pattern and fabric guided by the instructor
*Learn how to assemble your pieces, adjust fit and troubleshot common pattern issues
